CarGuys Super Cleaner

CarGuys Super Cleaner

This is the most amazing interior cleaner we have ever tried. It is simply an amazing cleaner that does a remarkable job removings, the nastiest, dirtiest, filthiest filth from your dash, seats and door panels. It even works on carpet, fabric, and painted surfaces. Pretty much the only thing that Super Cleaner won’t clean is glass.

Super Cleaner is highly effective and easy to use, but you should read the labels closely before getting crazy. Super Cleaner can strip dye from leather and leave unsightly bleach spots. Always test Super Cleaner in an inconspicuous spot before you get started.

This product should generally be sprayed onto a soft cloth and wiped onto the seats or dash, then wiped off. The special nanotech formulation doesn’t require you to use water to clean the product off. It’ll remove grease, gasoline, dust, and crayons, along with everything else nasty and leaves your interior looking fresh and clean. CarGuys recommends using their specially-formulated Interior Protectant after cleaning.

Pros

  • Cleans virtually anything quickly and easily
  • Works as good for cleaning exterior as it does interior
  • Leaves a clean scent that isn’t offensive

Cons

  • Can leave bleach spots if improperly applied
  • Does not offer UV protection

Chemical Guys Total Interior Cleaner

Chemical Guys Total Interior Cleaner

This is one of our favorite products for cleaning and protecting in a single step. It isn’t a super-strong cleaner, but works superbly for spot-cleaning and maintenance. It doesn’t leave a residue like many products, smells nice, and provides excellent UV protection. It cleans leather, plastic, rubber, and vinyl, but that’s not all it does. It’ll also clean glass, navigation screens, and shiny surfaces.

Application is a simple matter of spritzing a little on a soft cloth and wiping down the interior surfaces of your car. The unique formulation draws dust from cracks and crevices, clears fingerprints from all sorts of surfaces, and wipes away spilled soda and sticky substances with practically no effort at all. Then when you have wiped down your interior, simply go over the surfaces again with a clean microfiber towel for a perfect clean.

This product straddles the line between cleaner and detailer, but it isn’t up to tackling really messy interiors. We like it better as a finish spray and for touching up areas on the interior that frequently get fingerprints.

Pros

  • Doesn’t leave a residue when properly applied
  • Works great on hard surfaces
  • Safe for touchscreens and removes fingerprints

Cons

  • Can leave a haze if you don’t wipe it off
  • Easy to use too much

Shine Armor Interior Cleaner

Shine Armor Interior Cleaner

Do you like that new car smell your car used to have? This is a great product for cleaning and repelling dust and it leaves a fantastic new car smell. The formulation works like magic to suck grit and grime from the textured surfaces on your dash, door panels, and center console. It easily cleans gross and sticky stuff from cup holders and is one of our favorite products for cleaning air conditioner vents.

The cleaner uses nanotechnology to attract and trap dust while applying a strong UV protectant. The protectant prevents bleaching and cracking to your dash and door panels and doesn’t leave a greasy feel. Application is a simple process. You’ll spray the product onto a soft, microfiber cloth, wipe your interior down, and then wipe it clean with a fresh towel. It’s that easy.

It won’t clean fabric, but it can be used on carpets along with a carpet shampooer. It also isn’t a good choice for glass or navigation screens. Probably the worst thing about this product is the bottle. Sure, it looks cool, but it’s flimsy and breaks easily.

Pros

  • Your car will smell freshly detailed like a new car
  • Simple wipe on and wipe off application

Cons

  • Flimsy bottle
  • Leaves streaks on glass and touchscreen

Meguiar’s Interior Detail Spray

Meguiar’s Interior Detail Spray

You’re probably familiar with the Meguiar’s exterior products so you’ve got a good idea what to expect from this product. It is an easy to use product that does a great job of protecting your interior surfaces from damage from the sun. The interior detailer works well for removing scuff marks and fingerprints and is best on hard surfaces.

You can use a cotton towel to create a glossy lustre or a microfiber cloth to get a matte finish. This versatility lets you clean all sorts of different surfaces from leather to plastic. It’ll keep the dash of your car spotlessly clean. The resulting finish is slick and a touch greasy, but not sticky. It works best on hard surfaces.

A word of caution -don’t use this product on glass or navigation screens. The detailer will leave streaks that are very difficult to get off. It also isn’t good for exterior trim or tires because it can attract dirt and dust and might sling from the tires leaving a mess on the paint.

Pros

  • Easy to use product
  • Works well for removing dust and scuffs from interior parts

Cons

  • Leaves a residue that can attract dirt
  • Smells funky
  • Hard to remove from glass

TriNova Interior Quick Detailer

TriNova Interior Quick Detailer

This is another product that is a great touch-up, but don’t count on it to remove caked on dirt and grime. Where this comes in handy is for quickly removing dust from the surfaces of your interior. It provides an anti-static barrier that prevents dust from accumulating and leaves your car with a fresh, clean scent.

This interior cleaner is a great product for soft surfaces like leather and dash panels. It does a great job of giving your interior a dust-free, low gloss finish without greasiness. It isn’t good for glass or fabric because it can stain and cause streaking. If your interior has lots of chrome trim, this isn’t a good choice because it leaves a gross residue that’s hard to remove.

This is an ideal product for modern cars that don’t use lots of shiny components. The interior detail spray leaves a matte finish and a very mild scent. This premium product is a great choice for keeping in your trunk for those quick clean-ups.

Pros

  • Ideal for modern car interiors
  • Easy wipe on, wipe off application

Cons

  • Makes a mess on shiny surfaces
  • Won’t deep-clean

303 Protectant Interior and Exterior Detailing Spray

303 Protectant

We like this detail spray because of its flexibility. Use it to clean your dash, door panels, and center console, then take it outside and clean the trim and rubber. That kind of versatility is uncommon when it comes to detailing sprays. If this were a list of best products for use on your boat, this might be our favorite.

This detail spray was originally developed for use in the aviation and aerospace industry to provide a static-free surface. It works fantastically well for preventing dust and fingerprints on hard surfaces and provides exceptional UV protection. It will even protect your windshield wiper blades from sun damage.

This spray is a finish spray and won’t work well for removing stains, cleaning up spills, or removing grime from your interior. It also should not be used on leather surfaces or fabrics. It will leave streaks and a big mess on nav screens, windshields, and instrument panels.

Pros

  • One of the best detailing sprays for fiberglass
  • Versatile protectant that doesn’t leave streaks on surfaces

Cons

  • Not for use on some leather or any cloth
  • Messy when on glass or plastic

Adam’s Microban Interior Spray

Adam’s Microban Interior Spray

Adam’s is one of our favorite detailing companies. This interior spray is a great way to keep the interior of your car looking factory fresh. It uses proprietary technology called MicroBan that attracts dust and leaves a static-free surface. This is a very mildly scented spray ideal for people who don’t want an overpowering smell.

This product works best on vinyl and hard plastic surfaces that benefit from a somewhat shiny finish. When applied correctly, the detailing spray won’t leave a greasy, sticky finish. You can even use it on the steering wheel, shifter, and pedals without fear of a slippery surface.

It can be used for cleaning clear plastic surfaces like instrument panels and nav screens, but shouldn’t be used for glass. It is a mild cleaner that won’t damage any interior surfaces and provides an excellent level of UV protection.

Pros

  • Ideal for people who are sensitive to strong odors
  • Leaves a slick, non-sticky surface
  • Great for shiny vinyl in vintage cars and trucks

Cons

  • Not an effective cleaning product
  • Poor packaging is often damaged in transit

What to Look For When Buying Interior Cleaners and Detailing Sprays

Before you pick a product, you’ll need to understand the uses and limitations of the various products on the market today. If you are trying to remove grease, filth, caked on dirt, and scuff marks, you’re going to need a more powerful product. In that case, you’ll want to purchase a product designed for cleaning, like the Car Guys Super Cleaner that we chose as our best overall product. It’ll bust through the worst imaginable messes with ease, but it doesn’t offer much in the way of protection.

A detail spray differs from a cleaner because its primary purpose is to provide your interior with a layer of protection from UV rays that dry the interior surfaces of your car. These products also give your interior a smooth surface that is less likely to attract dust. Choosing a product like Total Interior Cleaner from Chemical Guys will help you prevent your interior from wearing out too quickly.

Conclusion

The best way to prevent your car’s interior from deteriorating is to keep it clean. Simply maintaining the surfaces with a detail spray at least as often as you wash the car will keep the surfaces looking great and in great shape. When you maintain the surfaces, the process becomes quick and simple. If you let the interior of your car get too dirty, you’ll spend lots of time and effort trying to clean it and you are less likely to have good results.

Fortunately, picking the ideal cleaner to clean the dash, door panels, center console, and other areas is easy. Any of the products on our list will work very well for cleaning or detailing your interior, but some of them are better at certain things than others. Now you’ll know which cleaner you need for the type of detailing project you’ve got.
